For the creators of digital miniprints, no templates or rules have been established. The artists can use data, measurements and shapes without rhyme or reason. Like the painter, artists in the digital arts may free themselves from their predecessors and forego the art of imitation, in order to create their own digital STRUCTURE.

Centre d’artistes Voix Visuelle presented the exhibition One and No One, by Monica Marquez. The artist explores Twitter’s semantics and its potentially disempowering effect on individuals.

Thanks to social media, awareness about global issues is raised and access to information, increased. However, lack of critical thought and a sort of herd mentality is encouraged. Are we conscious beings or are we entranced in some twilight too busy twittering to think? The more we become one with the crowd, the more we become no one.

On July 16, 2015, the event Voix Jeunes Talents took place at Centre d’artistes Voix Visuelle.

May 9 to June 8, 2015: Simulacrum
Joseph Muscat

This exhibition by Joseph Muscat gathers a body of works titled Simulacrum, a commentary on the childhood of the artist in a family where religion, fanaticism and fantasy ruled.

The artist photographed models behind a polished plexiglass sheet to preserve the anonymity of his subjects and to accentuate the mystery of the work. He then added collages of tar paper painted with acrylic to create a diversion or to complement his subjects. In doing so, Muscat attempts to recreate the holy pictures that captivated him in his youth and to revisit them in a contemporary context.

An Exchange Event at the gallery, organized by Le Centre d’artistes Voix Visuelle. To celebrate their tenth anniversary the Centre d’artistes Voix Visuelle wished to take a step closer to the creators by giving them an opportunity to make themselves known, to promote their work and to enrich their collection of contemporary art.

January 17 to February 17, 2015: Révélations anticipées

The project shows an installation of abstract and figurative photos assembled to form constellations. The images are reminiscent of ancient photography, but show contemporary subjects. The artist finds inspiration in fatalist speeches from scientists and environmental groups, creating an imaginary space where the viewer is invited to contemplate the present’s future, as if it was a premonitory vision. Technically, Janie Julien-Fort works with images created with a Camera Obscura, which negatives are chemically tampered with in the dark room. Thus, the falling to ruin images, paired with the subject matter, bring the viewer back to his own fragility.
